I just realised. One good thing about procrastination (what? there's something good about it?) is that it makes you more productive. It does. In order to procrastinate on doing something, I find myself doing something else that I'd been procrastinating on doing in order to procrastinate on doing the something that I'm procrastinating on doing.

Yeahhh I didn't understand that either.

Basically, to procrastinate on A, I do B.

SO I ACTUALLY DO DO SOMETHING. Wheeee. Awesome, eh?

but not when A is due the next day.

In my case right now, A is my homework that I put on hold since Fame Up! at Dewan Budaya started. B is blogging. :DDD

My nuffnang is stuck at 3 ringgit.

My blog posts are so unstructured.

So so so tired. I was in school for more than 10 hours today and was on the road for an hour.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Ahh. ICT exam tomorrow. I shall do notes here because my powerpoint and word aren't working because I don't have some product key to confirm it so they won't let me do anything on it. D:

So I found this ICT for SPM syllabus thingy online. It's basically something all the teachers have as a guideline to teach us. Pretty sweet. Since we have no idea what to study for ICT, having no official textbook or proper notes.

First off.

1.1.1.1 Define ICT.

This is the definition given by my teacher.

ICT (Information Communications Technology) is the technology required for information processing, in particular, the use of electronic computers, communication devices and software applications to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and retrieve information from anywhere, anytime.

and thennn.

1.1.1.2 Describe the brief evolution of computers

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/evolution-of-computers.html

from there,

In the evolution of computers their first generation was characterized by the use of vacuum tubes. These computers were expensive and bulky. They used machine language for computing and could solve just one problem at a time. They did not support multitasking.

In the 1960s, transistor based computers replaced vacuum tubes. Transistors made computers smaller and cheaper. They made computers energy efficient. But transistors were responsible for the emission of large amounts of heat from the computer. Due to this computers were subject to damage. The use of transistors marked the second generation of computers. Computers belonging to this generation used punched cards for input. They used assembly language.

The use of Integrated circuits ushered in the third generation of computers. Small transistors placed on silicon chips, called semi conductors. This increased the speed and efficiency of computers. Operating systems were the human interface to computing operations and keyboards and monitors became the input-output devices.

Thousands of integrated circuits placed onto a silicon chip made up a microprocessor. Introduction of microprocessors was the hallmark of fourth generation computers.

The fifth generation computers are under development. They are going to be based on principles of artificial intelligence and natural language recognition. Developers are aiming at computers capable of organizing themselves. The evolution of computers continues.

1.1.2 ICT In Everyday Life: Education, Banking, Industry and Commerce

1.1.2.1 List the usage of ICT in everyday life.

-Education
-Banking
-Industry
-Commerce

1. Education
- To find useful info. (internet)
- E-learning
- To manage books (library automation system)

2. Banking
- To withdraw or transfer money. (using ATM machine)
- Online banking. (eg: online services such as money transfer and paying bills online (maybank2u.com) )

3. Industry
- Automobile manufacturing industry using robotic facilities.
- Aerospace research using super computers. (eg: NASA)

4. Commerce
- E-commerce. To buy and sell things on the Internet. (through online payment)
- Advertising.
- For (dunnowhatting) the stock market. (KLSE)

1.1.2.2 State the differences between computerised and non-computerised
systems.

[copied]

BANKING SYSTEM

BANKING BEFORE ICT
• banking was done manually by taking deposits directly
• transactions can only be made during working hours
• takes time to approve any loan applications

BANKING WITH ICT
• all transactions are done by computers
• transaction can be done at anytime and place
• online services, phone banking system, credit cards are available

INDUSTRY

INDUSTRY BEFORE ICT
Production was slow because everything was done manually and totally depended on human labour.

INDUSTRY WITH ICT
Computers and telecommunications industry became very opular and profitable since production can be increased through an all day operation.

COMMERCE

Commerce is an activity of exchanging, buying and selling of commodities on a large scale involving transportation from place to place.

COMMERCE BEFORE ICT
• Trading was made using the barter system and it was then later developed into currency.
• Advertisement was in the form of word of mouth, billboards and printed flyers.
• Trading globally was extremely slow, late and expensive. Traders had to find ways to market local products in the global market.

COMMERCE WITH ICT
E-commerce plays an important role in the economic scene. It includes distribution, buying, selling and servicing products that are done electronically.

1.1.2.3 State the impact of ICT on society.

http://www.slideshare.net/kerjait/impact-of-ict-in-society
http://myictdotnet.blogspot.com/2008/02/l5-impact-of-ict-on-society.html

1. Faster communication speed.

With the capability of bandwidth, broadband and fast connection speed on the Internet, any information can travel fast in an instant. It saves time and is inexpensive.

2. Lower communication cost.

It's cheaper to use the Internet than using the telephone, mailing or courier services. It allows people to have access to a large amount of data at a very low cost.

3. Paperless environment.

Information can be stored and retrieved through a digital medium instead of paper.

4. Effective sharing of information.

People can share and exchange opinions, news and information through discussion groups, mailing lists and forums on the Internet. This enables knowledge/information sharing which will contribute to the development of a knowledge based society.

5. Reliable mode of communication.

Computers are reliable. With the internet, information can be accessed and retrieved from anywhere and at anytime. This makes it a reliable mode of communication. However, the input to the computer is contributed by humans. If the data passed to the computer is faulty, the result will be faulty as well. This is related to the term GIGO.

GIGO is a short form for Garbage In Garbage Out. It refers to the quality of output produced according to the input. Normally bad input produces bad output.

6. Borderless communication.

Internet offers fast information retrieval, interactivity, accessibility and versatility. It has become a borderless sources for services and information. Through the Internet, information and communication can be borderless.

7. Social problems.

There are some negative effects of ICT. It has created social problems in the society. Nowadays, people tend to choose online communication rather than having real time conversations. People tend to become more individualistic and introvert.

Other negative effects of ICT are :

• fraud

• identity theft

• Pornography

• Hacking

This will result in moral decadence and generate threats to the society.

8. Health problems.

A computer may harm users if they use it for long hours frequently. Computer users are also exposed to bad posture, eyestrain, physical and mental stress. In order to solve the health problems, an ergonomic environment can be introduced. For example, an ergonomic chair can reduce back strain and a screen filter can be used to minimize eye strain.

Procrastination. Terrible, I tell you. Everyone procrastinates, but I think I'm one of those people who even procrastinate on long-term stuff. Like if my parents weren't there to push me, I'd probably procrastinate on going to college, or whatever. Aaaaand, I'm terrible at replying to peoples messages online. Cuz I procrastinate, till it's a few months later and it wouldn't be appropriate to reply then, would it?
(I read and reply in my head to every single one of the messages I read though :) but it doesn't really matter if the other person doesn't get my reply. foosho. I'm so selfish. )

I realised I really dislike the "That's not MY problem" or "Ask her, I don't know anything about it and there's nothing I can do for you, go away" attitude. Though I'm sure I've done that before.
I bought Hello Hurricane! Like a week after its release in the states. Though it was spotted in Queensbay like a few days before I bought it. Which, I think is really cool considering I only found Oh!G a month or two after it got released. But THIS CD was printed in Malaysia. So it should be released on time.
Also, I bought Viva la Vida! Finally. BUT, stupid me bought the wrong version. 45 ringgit. I got super excited to see it and it was also a different cover from the only Viva la Vida version so I thought it's some Malaysian version of the Prospekt's March edition because I've seen that the Prospekt's March edition is supposed to have a colour with gold lettering but this one was the black and white and red one. :/ I even asked the lady to open the digipack to see if it had the song booklet. Which it did, but I didn't even realise that it didn't have the Prospekt's March's cover. Oh, and I didn't check the tracklisting at the back either. I just saw that there was another CD in the digipack and assumed it was PM. Heheh. Neways, I've got an illegal copy of PM that Zach gave me so I'll enjoy that while looking for a legitimate copy. I don't feel as guilty because I spent what an American would spend on a Viva/PM CD. In ringgit form. Just that I only got Viva la Vida. and a Dvd. oh. The DVD is probably worth some more money so I'm still in debt. Ahah. Ignore my weird calculations right there.
I tried watching the DVD on the laptop but the audio was all weird. Pausing and being slow and stuff. But when I tried it on the dvd player with the TV it was okay. I played the videos on the wide screen TV and it was HIGH DEF, yeah!

I am also in a bad mood because of someone. Ah, it's sad how we make each other sad. I probably make others sad too. I'm sorry.

Dear blank, WHY ARE YOU SO INCONSISTENT?
sincerely, blank.
I just got back from the MJ movie! It was awesome. Incredibly awesome. They should regularly show concerts in the cinema, cause I'd go.

The dude is amazinggggggg. I could go on and on.

Oh, and I saw the LED suit my dad and his company made for the MJ concert teeheee. This made me excited. Heheh.

I have bunches to say about the movie but I am tired now. Goooood night!

oh and go watch the official Mess of Me by Switchfoot video! IT IS SO AWESOME. Much better than I ever thought a montage-ey music video could be. All the footage are so artsy and they look so incredible.

listening to: On The Wing - Owl C

Oh man. I told myself I'd update my blog more frequently after PMR, for nuffnang's sake. But I haven't been feeling like posting anything, because no one's probably gonna read my what I post. Heheh. SO. Anyway. I bought Paramore's Brand New Eyes at Speedy for 41 ringgit (the price tag said 45.... idk). Which is, expensive, but is the average price of an original CD here so go get it peoples. :)

I still can't find a Prospekt's March edition of Viva La Vida. :/
but it's probably because I've only been looking at the cd shops in Queensbay. And not Gurney. Oh snap I should've followed my dad down town today when he went to pick up mayo. oh wells.

Uhm. Okay. So I guess I'll talk about BNE now. I LOVE IT. I've actually listened to a few songs from the album on myspace. So let's see, on my first listen I wasn't really listening but nothing really caught my ear. But technically I'm really blur and it takes me longer than others for my brain to process... stuff.... yeah. So I listened to BNE a few more times and only then I could like, remember a certain song and it didn't all sound the same anymore. Careful, I found myself skipping a lot and going straight to Playing God, because I kind of overplayed Ignorance when it first got released as a single, so, heh. Yes. And Playing God was the song that I really liked listening to on their myspace, and it was actually stuck in my (and Rehanna's) head during PMR. HAHAH. So. Yes. Playing God is really catchy, and it stands out 'cause it sounds pretty different from the rest of the songs.... in terms of the melody in the verse.... and maybe the chorus too. And the lyrics are pretty direct and easy to understand. Which was not the case for me for Careful. I don't really get the "the truth never set me free" line. It sounded pretty anti-Christ to me when I first heard it. But according to Hayley's explanation of the song in that journal that people got with the Deluxe Edition of BNE, I don't think the truth refers to faith. So yeah. I get the verses of the song, just not that line. Which is weird. I can't seem to relate the verse to that line. Help?

After Playing God is Brick By Boring Brick. And when I was listening to it on Myspace I wasn't really listening to the lyrics, so after reading the lyrics in the songbook I understood what the song was about. I don't LOVE the lyrics but I like em. And the "badaba badababadah" parts are so catchyy and fun to sing. ^_^ And I really like Hayley's vocals on this song. I especially like the parts in the album where most of the instruments stop and you can just hear Hayley's voice.

TURN IT OFF. I think, is one of my favourite songs in the album, I think it was the first song I started playing over and over again after getting the album. I love and understand the lyrics, and the though the music isn't incredibly.... creative or whatever I think it totally fits with the feel or um emotion in the lyrics. And I especially love the ending where only the guitars are playing then the bass and drums come in.

ah. well. i have school tomorrow. baii.

ps: yes. check out that long but not that long compared to other list i've seen list of bands. listen to em if you haven't before. :) and feel free to tell me about any other bands you know. cause I'm looking for new music. and I'm very happy with the fact that I've been introduced to about 3 new bands that I really like over the past week.

[title]

Soooooooooo. HAI. Long time no post. I watched 10 Things I Hate About You the movie today for what I thought was the first time but when I saw the scene where Bianca had to wear the belly and also Heath Ledger singing on some steps to some girl in a football field, I remember watching bits of this movie before. Like a reaaaaally long time ago. Hah.
and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in this movie.... *wub*
Heath Ledger has a funny smile. Just saying.

Gahh I'm so sleepy. Hummmm. I have not been productive as I would've liked to have been after PMR. I had this long list of things to learn and pick up but I never got around to doing it, instead I've been on the computer doing nothing. I keep putting off buying new wool because I'm too lazy to choose and decide which to buy to make what and also cleaning up my room will be delayed till I feel like doing it.

Hello Hurricane. Eeep. It premieres on myspace next week, a week before the official release date. I haven't decided whether I'm going to listen the songs on myspace or BE STRONG and wait till I get the album. Ahh.

Good noight.
Carly: You handcuffed Sam to Gibby??
Freddie: She put a dead fish in my locker!
Sam: but Gibby's worse than a dead fish!
Gibby: but my mom thinks I'm awesome! :(

bahah.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Dgahhhh. I am so sleeeeeepy, and tired. I shouldn't be on now, because I still have school exams for 2 more days even though my PMR finished today. Joy. Lame topics for art amali, I think I'm going with the padi sawah option. Initially I thought I'd do some finger painting for a change, cause I am feeling so bored and burnt out. I'm not sure how I'm going to get that into my padi sawah though. Heh. Uncreative much. I can't think right now. AHHH. This is not how I thought I was going to feel after PMR.

I had a good, good time at Rehanna's though. =DDDDD
